Each of the grammar schools give some priority to 'Pupil Premium' applicants.
Pupil Premium is additional funding paid to schools by the Government to improve the attainment of disadvantaged children. For the school to receive Pupil Premium funding, the child must have been registered and in receipt of Free School Meals (due to family low income for example) at any point in the last six years. This is different to Universal Free School Meals which all children in Reception - Year 2 receive regardless of income.
If your child is unable to sit tests on Saturdays for religious reasons we are able to arrange an alternative date. Please tick the box on the registration form and email a supporting letter from your religious leader if you would like us to do this. An alternative date will not be offered without a supporting letter. This letter must be submitted no later than Friday 26 June 2020.
You will receive your child's test score by Friday 16 October 2020 prior to you completing your Local Authority preference form by 31 October 2020. Parents/carers can then decide whether or not to include any of the Grammar Schools in Birmingham on their home Local Authority preference form. If your child does not achieve the qualifying score or above they will not be considered for a place and you should not list the school on your child's preference form.
To be eligible for a place at a grammar school in Birmingham, applicants must sit the optional entrance test and achieve the qualifying score or above. You can register your child for the optional entrance test during the registration period when they are in Year 5 and they will sit the test when they are in Year 6. Children taught outside of their usual cohort must contact the Admissions Office before registering for the test.
Deadline to Request Adjustments to the Test - Wednesday 17 June 2020
If your child has a disability and/or requires additional resources to sit the test you are required to complete an additional form and submit this by 17 June. Contact the Admissions office for a form.
All of the Grammar Schools in Birmingham welcome applications for places in their Sixth form. Please contact the school that you are interested in for full information or visit the school’s own website.
