Each of the grammar schools in Birmingham give some priority to 'Pupil Premium' applicants.
Pupil Premium is additional funding paid to schools by the Government to improve the attainment of disadvantaged children. For the school to receive Pupil Premium funding, the child must have been registered and in receipt of Free School Meals (due to family low income for example) at any point in the last six years. This is different to Universal Free School Meals which all children in Reception - Year 2 receive regardless of income.
If your child is unable to sit tests on Saturdays for religious reasons we are able to arrange an alternative test day. You must tick the relevant box when registering your child's details online for the test and supply a supporting letter from their religious leader if you would like us to do this. An alternative date will not be offered without a supporting letter. This letter must be submitted no later than 30 June 2023.
For 2024 entry, you will receive your child's test score by Friday 20 October 2023 prior to you completing your Local Authority preference form by 31 October 2023. Parents/carers can then decide whether or not to include any of the Grammar Schools in Birmingham on their home Local Authority preference form. If your child does not achieve the qualifying score or above they will not be considered for a place and you should not list the school on your child's preference form.
